Laparoscopic myomectomy is a surgical technique for removing fibroids. The assistance of the da Vinci robot can convert an “open” operation with a prolonged hospitalization into a same-day surgery with a shorter recovery.
Not all women are candidates for this approach – it depends on the number and size of the fibroids. Dr. Alison Jacoby sits at a console and manipulates special instruments which are inserted via a laparascope and operates as if her own hands are within the abdomen.
